My Partner in Crime

I know I’ve been on the hiatus here recently. No particular reason.. laziness maybe? Or just so busy. This weekend.. so busy.. but so fun!

I don’t know about you.. but love and I enjoy watching a good UFC fight. For me.. I think it’s more about getting together once a month with a big group of friends.. hanging out having a cold one.. and playing a few games of washers afterword. That is exactly what our Saturday consisted of. Well, our Saturday night anyway!

Saturday we attended a beautiful wedding in Leander. Our next door neighbor was married to our Wilson (I refer to him as Wilson because not only is he super tall and can see over the fence while he’s just standing there.. but our fences connect in the back yard). Proof that you can’t be in control of everything in a wedding.. that sometimes things happen and you have to go with the flow and not allow it to ruin “your big day”…

Love and I, along with a few friends, are sitting.. chatting and patiently waiting for our turn to get some food during the reception. All of the sudden.. I hear a noise as if something had fallen.. I glanced to my left.. the cake was melting and wilting and their cute little cake topper fell off.. tumbled down the front of the cake.. and pulled the icing off the front of each tier! They haven’t done their cake cutting or taken their pictures yet! Quickly, Lindz and I run to a gentleman who works at their venue and explain what happened. We tell him we need a fridge or somewhere cold to put the cake.. you would think he would then take the cake and put it away right?? WRONG! Next thing I know.. Here I am carrying this cake following the guy in circles trying to find somewhere cold to put it. Luckily.. we found a fridge.. The cake was the same on all sides so we able to simply turn the cake around and position it just so perfectly that you couldn’t see the damage.. phew! Erin was champ. Didn’t even bat an eye. She simply rolled with the punches and enjoyed her day. I hope to be that way if/when something goes wrong on my big day.

Sunday we went wedding band shopping! I still haven’t found exactly what I am looking for.. as if a 2mm .15 carat princess cut channel set chevron band is so much to ask for! We found the right band in a ¼ carat but.. it’s just too thick. I want something very small and very simple with just a small sparkle of diamond.. I can easily find it with round stones.. but my engagement band is princess cut so I want my band to match. I also found it as a guard.. but I don’t want two bands.. I want one. And they won’t sell me just one. I have to buy both and then have them taken apart and I can wear just one.. but then I’ve spent money on a second one that I don’t want. That doesn’t make sense to me!

I know I’m picky. But so is love! We’ve been shopping around for him as well.. but his.. we finally found it! It’s exactly what he was looking for.. a 6mm brushed tungsten band.. flat top with comfort fit and a lip on the edges. We found it at a couple of locations actually.. and the price of it varied by $100! Make sure you shop around folks. You don’t want pay a lot when the next store sells the same thing for a little!

We finished our weekend up with a nice game of scrabble. It’s times like those that I feel too many people take for granted. We try and soak it up. The little bit of everyday life that is seldom thought about or appreciated but is so greatly missed if it is ever gone. I don’t want to ever take those times for granted. I don’t think I could ever say it enough.. but I’d tell the whole world if I thought the whole world would listen..

I love Mr. Jones. I have been so blessed to find someone so amazing. Someone who I love unconditionally and who reciprocates that love in such an amazing way.
He is truly my best friend. My partner in crime.
My everyday joy. The bright spot in my life.

  1. We're fans of UFC too - it's always a good time!

What you're wanting for a wedding band sounds similar to the one I have - we had it custom made at Americus in Austin. We thought that their prices were really reasonable for custom work, so it might be worth checking out. good luck! :)
