I have succumb to peer pressure..

For 12 years I have successfully avoided reading a single one of the novels.

For 8 Years I have successfully avoided seeing a single one of the movies.

I had been proud of this little fact. Proud to be one of few who didn't fall into the obsession surrounding Harry Potter. I have a tendency to avoid almost anything that becomes a fad. If millions of people obsess over it.. then I lose interest. I've always been one to rout for the under dog.

Harry Potter.. Not for me.

Twilight.. No thank you.

Brad Pit.. Not impressive.

Get my point?

Then he happened..

Then I decided to marry into a family of Harry Potter fans and thus, I did it. I gave in.

Love wants to go to see the new Harry Potter movie. What does that mean? I get to go see the new Harry Potter movie. What else does that mean? I have to watch the previous 5 so that I have some kind of clue what the heck is going on during all the mumbo jumbo magic.

So far, I have only seen the first one. But don't worry folks.. we are now the proud owners of the collector's set! That means.. we own all five of the movies. Can't you feel my excitement?!

Love says they get better as they go.. "less kiddie and more adult". I look forward to that. Don't get me wrong.. I'm huge Disney movie fan. Even at the ripe age of 24 I still enjoy a good animated Pixar flick. Kung fu Panda made me giggle. Finding Nemo.. loved it. Cars, Monsters, inc. Toy Story, Happy Feet... I look forward to the day when I can hang out with my little kid (10 yrs from now?) and watch all these movies with him/her.

I like living in reality. I like shows that are based around reality. Even if they didn't actually happen.. I like things that are in the realm of possibility. My favorite types of movies and shows are those that are based on a true story.. or at least inspired by a true story. I can't get enough of the show Snapped. There is something about crime shows that I find so intriguing. I follow CNN crime online like it's my job. I watch Nancy Grace (I don't care for her so much.. but I find the stories so interesting). Usually very sad and sometimes disturbing.. but I can't get enough.

Now you start talking about magic and vampires and werewolves and.. BLAH!

The things one does for love..

  1. So, did you like the movie? I, too, have never seen a single Harry Potter movie or book. What's so great about it?
