I've always been a fan of all things unique. I prefer to make my own path rather than travel in the foot steps of another. My mom often tells me (and everyone else?) that when I was born, a nurse told her that "a child's birth says a lot about the type of person they will become.."
uh oh.
I was born.. Are you sitting down? Yes? Good.
I was born two weeks early in the back seat of my dad's pick up truck in the hospital parking lot.
And my poor mother.. total time in labor? 47 minutes!
Just to put that into perspective.. my mom was in labor with my brothers for 27 hours (first child) and 24 hours (second child).
What could all of that possibly say about me?
According to the nurse it meant that I would walk to the beat of my drum and do things my way.. regardless of what anyone else had to say about it (ok.. true). It also meant that I would be the type of person who always wanted to be a part of big events (I was born two weeks early.. just in time for Christmas and New Years.. Now? I plan events for a living.. ok.. true again). Last, let's just say that.. she said I wouldn't exactly be the most patient person in the world (ohh.. she's good!). My obsession with all things rustic and the fact that my favorite accessory is my boots.. that must be the result of being born in a truck.
So what's the point of my rambles? I've decided that I want to make my own jewelry. What does this story have to do with wanting to make my own jewelry? We're back to the title.. I'm a fan of all things unique. I don't want to wear a necklace that everyone else has. I want to wear one that I made. Now.. how to accomplish this task? Well.. that's still a big'ole question mark for me. But I'm doing my research! I hope to start collecting the tools and things I need and then.. become my own jewelry designer.
Good times.
Any advice?

A mother's word of advice: Learn Patience! LOL
ReplyDeleteBuy some books on jewelry making to learn the methods and special tricks...and then do it YOUR way...of course!
Oh, and one more thing...
Spend 47 minutes every day thinking loving thoughts of your mother!

So I don't know if you saw this, but I posted here, http://stephers-thechipperchicken.blogspot.com/2009/06/untitled.html, about making my necklace for the wedding. I saw a girl that did it at Style Me Pretty. I went to Michael's and spent a little more than I wanted to on beads and wire and stuff, but it turned out pretty similar to the one in the pic. I'll try an upload a pic on my finished product later tonight! I totally love and got inspired to make my bridesmaids necklaces too!!! It was alot fun!
